I am a qualified teacher and an ICAO rater/examiner and a team member of the ENG-NAV Test Service Provider holding the licence TSP 001/2013 of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Slovak Republic. I have been delivering Aviation English courses for 9 years so I have quite rich experience in this field. The following courses are provided:

English for Pilots and Air Traffic Controllers

These Aviation English courses are designed for airline and helicopter pilots as well as for air traffic controllers who need to pass ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) exam and want to improve or maintain their level of English language proficiency. They are suitable for those whose aim is to reach Operational Level 4 or those who are already above that level and just want to refresh their language skills and prepare for the ICAO exam.

The courses involve both general English tuition of the chosen areas of language and specific terminology, phraseology and aviation – related topics. The curriculum consists of individual modules which contain necessary grammar and vocabulary, plain language and phraseology that are vital for effective communication and successful handling both routine and non- routine and emergency situations.

The courses are tailored to the students' requirements and the structure and level are adapted according to their current language level. Each lesson provides practice of the following ICAO test key skills (that are assessed during ICAO test):

AB Initio

This course is suitable for trainees who have not yet learned specific aviation phraseology and for those who have just basic knowledge on Aviation English. It introduces specific terminology and special language areas and assists them in preparing for ICAO level 4. The areas covered in language training include:
  • Airport and airport staff
  • Parts of aircraft
  • Principles of flight
  • Phases of flight
  • Cockpit and basic instruments
  • Pre-flight check
  • Navigation
  • Meteorology
  • Standard procedures
  • Standard phraseology
  • Non-routine situations and emergencies:
    • weather-related emergencies (icing, turbulence, volcanic ash, windshear, etc.), birdstrike, human errors, engine failure, fire on board, air rage, belly landing, electrical / hydraulic system failure, etc.
Each lesson is supported by various aviation-specific materials (special books, magazines, authentic recordings, videos, training tools, Internet resources, aviation-related news, etc.).

English for Airport staff

The course is designed for staff working at aerodromes who need to communicate with English speaking passengers and other customers in their everyday work. The course structure, topics and language areas included are adapted to the clients' needs and requirements.

Each lesson is supported by various aviation-specific materials (special books, magazines, authentic recordings, videos, training tools, Internet resources, aviation-related news, etc.).

English for Cabin crew

The course is suitable for flight attendants who need to communicate in English at work every day. The curriculum covers specific vocabulary, phrases and language areas which are necessary when talking to pilots and passengers. The areas covered in language training include:
  • Airport and airport staff
  • Pre-flight briefing
  • Welcoming, settling passengers in their seats
  • Food and drinks
  • Dealing with passengers problems
  • Medical problems
  • Complaints
  • Air rage – disruptive passengers
